A season of prayer and fasting
As we journey towards Vision Offering, we believe the Lord is inviting us into a season of intentional prayer and fasting together as a church.
This year, our Vision Offering theme is “From Here to Everywhere.” A reminder that the Gospel has always moved through ordinary people willing to pray, willing to go, willing to give, and willing to say yes to the call of God. From the early Church in Acts, to the Church today, God has always used surrendered people to carry the hope of Jesus beyond themselves, beyond comfort, and into the world around them.
Over these 21 days, we want to intentionally create space to seek God for what He wants to do in us, through us, and beyond us. We’ll be praying for personal renewal, for our church and communities, and for the Gospel to continue moving from here into our city, our nation, and the nations of the world.
Fasting is an intentional act of decrease so that our hunger for God might increase. It is a way of creating room for prayer, dependence, surrender, and sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit. As we fast and pray together, our hope is not simply that we would become busier Christians, but more surrendered disciples of Jesus.
If you’ve never fasted before, don’t stress. Across the journey we’ll be providing simple guidance, daily prayer focuses, social media encouragements, and a digital resource to help you participate in a way that is healthy, intentional, and meaningful.
We invite you to journey with us across these 21 days as we seek God together.

Here’s some tips to help you prepare
- What are you fasting for? (Set your objective)
- Spiritual breakthrough, healing, financial, direction, purpose, restoration, salvations. Write it down, keep a journal.
- Pray into the themes of this season: that we would send people and resources for the sake of the Gospel, seek God for renewal in our lives and communities, seed generously into Vision Offering, share the hope of Jesus with boldness, and serve our neighbours, our locations, and future ministry opportunities with faith and humility.
- Bring your own prayers before God: asking Him what He wants to do in you, through you, and beyond you across these 21 days.
- What kind of fast is God inviting you to?
- Jesus implied that all of His followers should fast (Matthew 6:16-18; 9:14,15). For Him it was a matter of when believers would fast, not if they would do it.As a church we’re calling our community to fast one meal per day, breakfast, lunch or dinner. 6am, Midday or 6pm.
- What if I can’t skip a meal a day?
- If you can’t fast a meal there’s plenty of other things you can fast. It could be something that you go to for comfort like social media, gaming, TV/Netflix or a range of other things. Ask God to reveal to you an area which He would like to break through in your life.
- What time of the day will you set aside to pray?
- As a church we’re encouraging our community to fast at 6am, Midday or 6pm (breakfast, lunch or dinner). Fasting is about resisting the craving and comforts of self to crave and pursue God’s presence and activity in your life more. Be intentional about dedicating set time every day to prayer, and set a reminder.
- Keep a fasting journal
- Expect God to speak! Document what you hear during, and after the fast, as breakthrough often happens after.
- Fast with someone
- Two are better than one. This is something friends and life groups can engage in together. People fasting and praying together has a powerful impact!
- Prepare physically
- If you’re considering doing a significant food fast begin 2-3 days early by reducing your intake and increasing fruit, vegetables and water as a way to detox slowly.
- Prepare spiritually
- Invite God to examine your heart (Psalm 139) and show you those things that are holding you back from experiencing breakthrough and growth in your life.
- Don’t give up!
- If you break the fast – or fail in some way – don’t be overcome with condemnation. Remember God’s grace is sufficient for you! – Hit the reset button and keep going!
