Romans = Good News

Romans 15:14–33

“It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known.” (v20)

 Main Idea

  • The Gospel doesn’t stay still.
  • Good news always moves through people on mission.
  • Paul’s passion: reach places where Christ is not yet known

 Paul’s Mission

  • Writes to Rome → to strengthen faith& encourage mission.
  • Rome wasn’t the end goal → Paul was looking to Spain(new continent).
  • Saw sharing the Gospel as a priestly duty(v16).
  • Transformed lives = an offering to God.

 The Gospel Must Move

  • In Acts, persecution pushed disciples out of Jerusalem.
  • God gave Paul a new assignment→ take Jesus to the nations.
  • Good news has to go out— it can’t be contained.

 Our Mission Today

  • 46 churches in Frankston, but many still don’t know Jesus.
  • People around us (modern “gentiles”):
    • Neighbours
    • Co-workers
    • Family
  • Research shows Aussies are open to spiritual conversations.

Top 3 benefits people see in Christianity:

  1. Spiritual connection
  2. Personal meaning & purpose
  3. Answers to life’s big questions
  4. Application
  • Your “next continent” might just be your street or suburb.
  • As we pray, tell our story, live authentically, and depend on the Spirit, the Gospel keeps moving.
  • Our ambition: that every person hears God’s love and grace in Jesus.

 Reflection Questions

  • What do you need from God to make it your ambition to share the Gospel?
  • What do you already have in your hand to help you share your story?
  • What would it look like to truly commit to Jesus’ commission to GO?
